Bursledon Brickworks Development - Construction Section DRAFT

Bursledon Brickworks Development - Construction

So far the design development at Bursledon has primarily been based upon design concepts and thus remained fairly abstract. However once how the building is physically constructed is considered, this adds an extra layer of detail and influence that can often result in the concept changing considerably. Of course this is why it makes sense that the construction system is developed in parallel with the more abstract design programme and concept as soon as is possible.

Below are draft considerations of an initially considered steel structural system, clad externally with standing seam zinc and internally with varnished and untreated ply-boarding. The new structures sits both within and onto the existing, allowing it to practically accommodate new activities where necessary, but at the same time not fully detaching from or restoring it.
